Here are some therapeutic vegetables for sunburns, considering summer has peaked but you may still be crazy enough to go shopping in broad daylight, says ROSHANI DEVI
Potato makes you fat, but it also makes you kinda cool, literally if I may say so. That’s the reason why you should use cold potato grate to treat burns, especially sunburns, as they cool down the skin and also act as a pain reliever.
If fact, it works equally well on minor skin irritations and scratches or bites. In case you do not have a ready potato paste, just cut a potato into two and rub it into the affected area. It will reduce the redness of the skin and also act as anti-inflammatory substance.
You could also use chilled milk compress to treat sunburns. Just soak a cotton gauze in chilled milk and place it over the affected area till it remains cool. You will feel the difference pretty soon.
Cornstarch or baking soda fights burns pretty well. Both cut down on pain and reduce the redness of the skin. All you need to do is make a paste with cornstarch or baking soda and cool water and smear the affected area. Keep it on for at least 10-15 minutes for best result.
Aloe vera juice is one of the best plant-based treatment for sunburns and other burns too. It sucks up the heat from the skin and leaves it not only cool and tingling but also fresh and unwrinkled. For best results, just break off a leaf and cut it to accumulate the juice. You could also keep the leaf directly on your skin, just slit them down the middle so that the juice oozes out.
