Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again topped the latest global list of ‘Democratic Leader Approval Ratings’ with a 75% approval score. The results reflect Modi’s continued popularity on the international stage and reaffirm his position as the world’s most approved global leader.  PM Modi has held the top position in Morning Consult’s Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker since at least September 2021, when he led with a 70 per cent approval rating.

PM Modi was followed by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Argentina’s Javier Milei.Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stands at eighth rank, with only 44 per cent in favour. It is believed that some of his policy moves, including trade tariffs and domestic decisions, may have dented his popularity. According to the latest data released by US-based business intelligence firm Morning Consult, 75 per cent of participants approved of PM Modi as a democratic world leader.

With an approval rating of 75 per cent, Modi leads the global chart ahead of leaders such as South Korea’s Lee Jae-myung (59 per cent), Argentina’s Javier Milei (57 per cent), and Canada’s Mark Carney (56 per cent). US President Donald Trump has been ranked eighth at 44 per cent.

“The latest approval ratings are based on data collected from July 4-10, 2025. Ratings reflect a trailing seven-day simple moving average of views among adults in each country surveyed,” Morning Consult said.

The data presented is weighted to approximate representative samples of adults in each surveyed country, with weighting parameters and target populations varying accordingly. This methodological approach allows for a more accurate reflection of public opinion across different demographics and geographical locations.

The survey found that three out of every four people surveyed had a positive view of Modi as a democratic leader. While a smaller section - 18% - didn’t feel the same way, about 7% were unsure or didn’t have a clear opinion.Modi was re-elected for a third term as India’s prime minister in May 2024.Earlier on Friday, PM Modi overtook former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to serve the second-longest consecutive stint as PM. PM Modi completed 4,078 days in office to overtake Indira’s uninterrupted spell of 4,077 days from Jan 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977.

In 2022, his rating stood at around 71 per cent, topping a survey of 13 world leaders. He continued to lead throughout 2023, with ratings reaching 76 per cent in surveys conducted in April, September, and December. In February 2024, his approval peaked at 78 per cent, firmly placing him at the top of the global ranking.
