BSP to go solo in U’khand, UP Assembly elections
Asserting her party’s commitment to go it alone in Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said her party will not have any alliance in UP and Uttarakhand Assembly polls that are slated early next year.
The BSP has already finalised a pre-poll alliance in Punjab with the Akali Dal, which will also go to polls along with UP and Uttarakhand.
There were reports that the BSP could ally with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the UP polls.
“This news is absolutely false, misleading and baseless. There is not even an iota of truth in it and the BSP strongly denies it,” the former UP Chief Minister said in a statement on Twitter.
In a series of tweets on Sunday morning, Mayawati said, “… a news channel is saying since yesterday that the AIMIM and the BSP will fight the forthcoming Assembly elections in UP together. This news is completely false, misleading and is not based on facts. There is not even a word of truth in this and the BSP vehemently denies it”.
She said, “… it is again clarified that, except for Punjab, the BSP will not forge any alliance with any party in UP and Uttarakhand and will fight (these elections) alone.”
The former UP CM said, “Keeping in mind such concocted news about the BSP being spread across the media in the country, now Satish Chandra Mishra, national general secretary of the BSP and Rajya Sabha MP, has been made the national coordinator of the BSP’s Media Cell.”
In her last tweet she appealed to the media to first get information verified from Mishra before publishing any news about the BSP.
