Protecting the Right to Education (RTE) for every child in Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister on Monday announced that no school in the national Capital can deny admission to a child on the grounds that they declared the name of just one parent.
The decision is being considered significant since it will help children who have lost one or both parents to Covid-19.
Sharing the notification of the Department of Education, signed by Udit Raj Prakash, Director of Education, Sisodia, who also holds the portfolio of Education Minister, tweeted: No school in Delhi shall deny admission to a child on grounds that the child is declaring name of his or her single parent only.
The circular issued on the behalf of Delhi Government read: “All the heads of schools of all managements are hereby directed not to deny admission to the candidates who have filled details of just one of the parents in the application form while taking admission.”
The order will be applicable for all Government, semi Government, private and aided schools in Delhi.
Earlier, students in Delhi faced difficulties in getting admissions and producing certificates if they declared only one parent.
The online registration process for the candidates seeking admission for Classes VI to IX at various Delhi schools began on June 11, 2021.
