Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who offered prayers at the makeshift Ram temple a day after a special CBI court framed charges against top BJP leaders in the Babri Mosque demolition case, said the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute should be resolved through bilateral talks and allocated Rs400 crore for development of Ayodhya and its roads.
Amid chants of Jai Shri Ram and slogans of Mandir wahin banayenge, Yogi — who was at the disputed site for around 40 minutes — was welcomed at Ram Janmabhoomi on Wednesday.
He enquired from the officials about security measures at the site.
Yogi declared that an aarti will be held at Saryu River on the lines of Ganga Aarti in Varanasi every evening.
“Saryu is as important and as pious as Ganga so Saryu Mahotsava should be organised every year,” Yogi said.
He said that Ayodhya and Saryu had not got respect which it should get because of its historical and religious importance because of the stepmotherly treatment being given by the previous SP and BSP Governments.
“We want to establish Ayodhya on the world map and for this my Government will not only improve infrastructure but also re-start the tradition of this region. In Kashi people say Har, Har Mahdev, in Mathura pilgrims say Radhe, Radhe. Similarly in Faizabad and Ayodhya you can hear people saying Jai Sri Ram because Ram is the soul of this twin city,” Yogi said.
Asking authorities to improve the ghats and other infrastructure at the Saryu banks he allocated Rs350 crore for development of Ayodhya and Rs50 crore for improving roads inside Ayodhya city.
The Power Corporation was asked to install lED bulbs as street lights.
He asked irrigation department to install STP so that effluent municipal and industrial waste does not go directly into the river.
“We are committed for development of Faizabad-Ayodhya. The first step we have taken by declaring this twin city as Municipal Corporation. Now, money from different sources can be used in development of the region,” he said.
