Promising to transform “scam Haryana into skill Haryana”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday exhorted the people of the State to elect the BJP to power with a clear majority.
While addressing a rally at Mahendragarh, Modi launched a scathing attack on the Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government saying that the Congress has remained busy in indulging in scams throughout its ten years rule in Haryana.
“I know that you are sad because Haryana is known as the State of scams. There are scams and then scams within scams. Our opponents are all involved in scams. Do you want a ‘scam Haryana’IJ I want to create a ‘skill Haryana’. You have to decide if you want a ‘scam Haryana’ or ‘skill Haryana’,” Modi said.
“People of this State want change in Haryana and get rid of open loot, scams and mafia raj... I learnt politics in the State and hence, I want to pay back my debt and serve Haryana,” he added.
The Prime Minister addressed a series of election rallies in poll-bound Haryana on Wednesday. He also used the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti to woo Dalits of the State by invoking the issue of their pride, dignity and safety in the area.
Modi said that the country could not be run on the politics of untouchability and that parties will have to rise above this to take the country forward.
He chided the Congress for its silence after his remarks on celebrating the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister. “When I spoke about the birth anniversary celebrations of Nehru, the Congress could not digest it,” he said.
At a rally in Jagadhari, Modi talked about ‘Team India’ at the Centre and in the States so that development could be speeded up.
“I want to bring the Centre and States not only closer (pass-pass) but also together (saath-saath),” he said, adding that I want a Team India where the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister work together.
The Prime Minister added that he wanted to utilise the strength of farming and industry in Haryana to change its future, for which he sought the help of the people to serve the State in an effective manner with BJP Governments both at the State and the Centre. He also reiterated to promote Kurukshetra as one of the tourist destination.
