The Indian Army has unearthed a sinister plot of the Pakistan Army by detecting a tunnel built across the line of Control (loC) in Munnawar Tawi area of Pallanwala sector in Akhnoor, 70 kms from Jammu.
According to ground reports, Army jawans detected one end of the tunnel, roughly 2.5 ft wide and 7-8 ft deep, near 500 metre of the loC in Akhnoor area of Jammu on Friday.
Senior officials in Nagrota-based 16 core headquarters, however, declined to confirm the ground reports claiming that they had not received any report related to detection of tunnel along the line of control in Akhnoor.
The Pakistan Army has been engaging Indian troops in the same sector and constantly violating ceasefire agreement to divert their attention to push in infiltrators.
A solider of the 3 Naga, Naik Mongchon B, was ambushed by the suspected militants aided by the Pakistan Army on July 22, 2014 in the Pallanwala area of Akhnoor, at least 700 metres inside the Indian territory.
According to sources, the local Army unit has pressed JCB machines to find out the other end of the tunnel to ascertain whether the tunnel has been used by the Pakistan Army to push trained infiltrators inside the Indian territory.
In 2009 Indian Army had detected a tunnel in the same area. Another tunnel was spotted along the International border in Ramgarh Sector of Samba district in July 2012.
