'Three idiots' from Patna hatch plot to nab Dawood

Published on:

Three students of a prestigious missionary school of Patna, on a get-rich-quick mission, set out to achieve what India’s security establishment and Intelligence agencies have failed to do so far — catch India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

The students, Vipin Kumar, Satyam Shanu and Umar Mallik, are ninth standard students at Patna’s St Michael’s High School. After they went missing last week, their family members had registered a case in the police station.

A police team led by City SP Jayant Kant succeeded in tracing Vipin Kumar when he was trying to arrange more money for their ‘Operation Dawood’.

Vipin revealed that his two other friends were stationed at Kolkata en route to Karachi. Umar Mallik’s maternal grandmother, police said, lived in Karachi. And the trio had planned to reach Umar’s grandmother’s house to execute their plan.

For garnering resources to reach Pakistan, the three students even visited the village of a strongman for his help and support. The missing trio has been spotted after three days and handed over to family members by the police.

Police said the trio had earlier watched the Bollywood movie D-Day and got inspired to catch the Karachi-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and claim the reward money.

“The boys said they were not interested in studies; so they had made a plan to catch Dawood after watching the Bollywood movie D-Day,” said Patna SSP Manu Maharaj.

They felt that by catching the don and handing him over to the Indian Government, they would get crores of rupees as their reward so that they could enjoy their life thereafter, Maharaj said.

The school students had downloaded a copy of the map of the Karachi residence of Dawood Ibrahim and had meticulously planned how to reach there and catch him.

However, like a Bollywood flick, their story also took an interesting turn. To get the kind of support they needed in their operation, they first decided to contact strongman of Bihar and ruling party JD(U) MlA from Mokama, Anant Singh.

They first visited the MlA’s village ladma in Barh, over 100 km from Patna, but when told that the MlA was in Patna itself, they reached Kolkata.

“And when they ran out of money, one of them, Vipin Kumar, returned to Patna to arrange funds, but the Patna police managed to catch him instead,” said the police.

All the boys were brought to Patna on Monday and handed over to their parents.

The Patna police later said that such tendency among teenagers was a matter of concern as they’re exposed to unrestricted use of Bollywood films, Internet and social media. “The parents must keep a watch on their wards from going wayward and watching such influential movies which finally throw them in danger,” said the police.
