Former Union Minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was grilled by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of South district in connection with the murder of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. Sources said that Tharoor was confronted in the light of fresh details that had emerged in the SIT probe after it registered a case of murder at Sarojini Nagar police station.
The SIT asked Tharoor about his relationship with Sunanda and whether there were any differences between them over Pakistani journalist Mehar Tarar and his biographer Katherine — or Katy as mentioned by Tharoor’s servant Narayan Singh during his deposition. Tharoor arrived at Vasant Vihar’s Auto-Theft Squad (ATS) office for questioning. He was grilled by the SIT, headed South district DCP Prem Nath and Additional DCP Pramod Kushwah. South-eastern range Joint CP Vivek too was present.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi had hinted that Tharoor’s grilling was imminent as he has already been served summons under Section 160 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) by the Investigating Officer.
