Tatas put blame on Mistry for all wrongs, remove him as TCS chief

As Tata Sons boardroom battle continues, the $100-billion conglomerate on Thursday put the blame of all that went wrong in the group on ousted chairman Cyrus Mistry and alleged that he betrayed the trust and tried to seek control of main operating firms of the group.

Tata Sons also removed Mistry as chairman of the country’s largest software services firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and has called a special shareholders’ meeting to do the same in the group’s hospitality firm Indian Hotels Company ltd (IHCl) that runs the Taj Group of Hotels.

However, Mistry’s camp termed Tata Sons’ allegations as “unsubstantiated and half truths”. “Cloak and dagger machinations with little regard to due process of law has come to define the angry strategy of the Ratan Tata camp,” said a source close to Mistry.
