Swearing-in a melting pot of cultures, religions

Published on:

The swearing in of the PDP-BJP Council of Ministers was a melting pot of different cultures, religions and styles. BJP legislators preferred to take oath in Hindi and Dogri  while their PDP counterparts did so in English and Urdu. When BJP MP Jugal Kishore chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai after the National Anthem, the side of the auditorium with BJP workers burst into loud applause and echoed the slogan. In contrast, the PDP side of the venue remained silent. Javed Musatafa Mir and Maulvi Imran Ansari took oath in the name of Allah. lal Singh, who had switched to the BJP from the Congress just ahead of polls, took oath in Dogri.
