Good news for Delhiites as favourable wind pattern will keep fog and pollution “out” of city’s atmosphere till December 21. With wind speed of 12-22 km per hour, values of Suspended Particulate Matters (SPMs) were recorded 85 and 156 in microgramme per cubic metre for PM 2.5 and PM 10 respectively on Sunday.

With passable velocity of wind, people will breathe clean air and will enjoy sunshine as well.

According to Rajendra Jenamani, Met expert, Indira Gandhi International Airport, “With wind speed reaching 10-22 kmph these days at Delhi, and most models indicating wind will most likely not slow down in most parts of the day till December 22 resulting drying of surface air, major spells of dense fog is not likely before December 22 at IGI Airport.”

Values of harmful pollutants — SO2, NO2 — were also recorded under limit on Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) pollution index.

Meanwhile, Delhiites witnessed clear skies with the minimum temperature settling at 7.8 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year.

According to the Meteorological (MeT) department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.6 degrees Celsius, one degree above the normal. The humidity level was between 92 and 33 per cent respectively. The MeT office has forecast mainly clear skies with mist in the morning for Monday morning

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 23 and nine degrees Celsius on Monday,” the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) updated forecast on its website.

The visibility was recorded at 1,500 meters at 5.30 am which significantly improved to 3,000 metres at 8.30 am, the MeT office said.
