While the date of launching the train has not been decided yet, it is likely to be flagged off shortly before Holi. Prabhu was speaking on the sidelines of a RPF function. When asked about the Rail Budget, he said, “We will try to fulfil everybody’s aspirations in the Budget.”

According to Railways, the AC double-decker New Delhi-lucknow train will have 12 coaches having 110 seats in each. It will run approximately at a maximum speed of 110 kmph and the fare is likely to be around Rs630 for travelling between lucknow and New Delhi.

There has been a demand for an AC double-decker train between the national Capital and lucknow. Railways is currently running AC double-deckers on a few routes, including Howrah-Dhanbad, Mumbai-Ahemedabad, Delhi-Jaipur and Bangalore-Chennai, among others.
