In a horrifying incident outside Aryabhatta College in Delhi University’s South Campus on Sunday, a first-year student was stabbed to death, according to the police. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Nikhil Chauhan, resided in Paschim Vihar and was pursuing a BA (Hons) in Political Science from the School of Open Learning (SOL).

On receiving a call from Charak Palika Hospital, the police promptly rushed to the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that a student from the School of Open Learning allegedly misbehaved with Chauhan’s girlfriend on the college premises around a week ago.

On Sunday, around 12:30 PM, the accused student and three of his associates reportedly met Chauhan outside Aryabhatta College and allegedly stabbed him in the chest, as confirmed by a senior police officer.

The victim was immediately rushed to the nearby Charak Palika Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The police suspect that the attack on Chauhan occurred following an argument between him and the accused persons over the earlier incident of misbehavior.

The authorities successfully identified the accused people and are currently examining the CCTV footage from the crime scene to establish the precise sequence of events. Special teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects, the police announced.

They have registered a case in connection with the incident and plan to hand over the victim’s body to his bereaved family members after completing the post-mortem examination.
