Hours after sleazy pix of Niraj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, went viral on various social networking platforms the Jammu & Kashmir Government on Friday ordered his immediate attachment, pending enquiry into his conduct, in the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
Pictures of 2010-batch IAS officer, hailing from Katihar district in Eastern Bihar, were already in circulation in several closed groups on social networking sites for few days. It is not clear on which date the pictures were shot.
Niraj Kumar had recently celebrated his birthday on July 26, 2017.
He was serving on the post of DC, Udhampur since May 2016.
In the pictures, inebriated IAS officer, dressed in blue T-Shirt, is seen in the company of two young girls inside a room.
It was not clear whether they were present in a hotel room in Udhampur or were spending time together at any other location far away from Udhampur at a private place. Presence of few others in the room could not be ruled out as the pictures in circulation were shot by someone present in the room.
As the pictures became talking point of the day in the corridors of power, the State Government, taking serious note of the misconduct by the IAS officer, ordered a high-level enquiry.
The local police in Udhampur have also activated its network to track down and identify the girls seen in the pictures.
The order, issued by the General Administration Department, said, “Pending enquiry into his conduct, Niraj Kumar, IAS Deputy Commiss-ioner, Udhampur, is hereby attached in the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.”
In his place, Arvind Sharma, KAS, Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, shall look after the work of Deputy Commissioner till further orders.
