Sisodia cries 'dadagiri' as BJP mocks AAP's 'marzi ki sarkar'

As the AAP Government in Delhi celebrates 100 days in office, it fired yet another salvo at the Centre accusing the Narendra Modi dispensation of making the “biggest U-turn” on BJP’s poll promises of granting full statehood to Delhi, and said it would not keep mum in the face of “dadagiri”. The BJP, on the other hand, accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of running a “meri marzi ki sarkar” in Delhi and said that the ruling AAP’s performance has been marked more by “confrontation” than “coordination” in its 100 days in office.

Suggesting that plans were afoot to save the “betrayers” of the national Capital, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the AAP Government was working as well as fighting, and that “people have not elected us to play chess or put our arms around these betrayers.”

Accusing Centre of ‘shadow boxing’ by giving lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung absolute powers, Kejriwal’s trusted lieutenant alleged that the Modi Government has been trying to run Delhi “by hook or by crook” through the l-G and violating basic “federal structure”. Sisodia also wondered as to why BJP was “scared of a contest” between Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

But listing out the controversies, which have erupted ever since the Kejriwal-led AAP Government came to power in the city in February, the Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay highlighted the row with the Delhi lt Governor over bureaucratic appointments, the alleged suicide by a farmer at an AAP rally and the row over the allegedly fake degrees of its Minister and MlAs as he charged that AAP has failed to deliver on its election promises.

“Kejriwal has not only made a mockery of governance, but has also deceived the public,” said Upadhyay at a Press conference. launching a presentation titled #AAP ka fareb, directed against the ruling party, Upadhyay said that AAP has also demeaned the bureaucracy by locking horns with the  l-G over a routine appointment.

“The emergency session (of Assembly) has been called to further escalate the administrative crisis and create alibis to run away from governance,” Upadhyay claimed, adding that the 100 days (of AAP) reflect an era of anarchism in governance and murder of humanity, which Delhi had never seen.

Accusing Kejriwal of dictatorial traits, Upadhyay said that Kejriwal has maintained a “meri marzi” approach, be it in the row with Delhi Women’s Commission or the Centre, a High Court order or a crisis within the ranks of his own party.

“Whatever the AAP Government promises to do has a ‘conditions-apply’ hashtag attached. They themselves said in a meeting of IAS officers that they have set a target of fulfilling at least 40-50 per cent of the promises,” Upadhyay said. BJP also attacked the Delhi Chief Minister for his “self-glorification as an anti-corruption crusader”.

“In these 100 days, Kejriwal and his cronies have found fault in the working of every institution, be it the administrative system, constitutional bodies, media, judiciary. Now he is out to challenge the constitution itself by challenging its provisions on Centre and Union Territory relations,” added Upadhyay.

Charging that the AAP Government had “failed badly” in delivering on its poll promises, BJP said the “public is still awaiting the freebies promised by them, including water and WiFi”.

Also, with AAP having planned a mega event at Central Park here on Monday where the entire Delhi Cabinet will be present to highlight its achievements before the public, Upadhyay said, “Calling a Cabinet meeting in a park is nothing but a cheap gimmick to try and be in the news.”
