The SHO of the Uttam Nagar police station was suspended on Friday for disrobing a rape victim, who had approached the police to lodge a complaint. Sources said that the police officer tried to examine himself whether the minor girl was sexually assaulted.
After stripping the rape victim, the SHO, Inspector Bhagwan Singh, claimed that the victim was lying and pushed her out of the police station. The cop misbehaved with girl's parents also.
Sources said the father of the minor girl reached Uttam Nagar police station on Wednesday evening to lodge an FIR against his neighbour for raping his daughter. The Duty Officer (DO) of the police station forwarded the complaint to a SI who in turn informed the SHO about the incident.
The girl and her father were summoned in the SHO's room where the girl narrated her ordeal. The SHO reportedly flew into rage and started hurling abuses and asked the girl to take off her clothes as he wanted to physically examine whether she was raped.
