Asserting that three years of the BJP rule at the Centre has eradicated “parivarwad”, “jatiwad” and “appeasement politics”, BJP president Amit Shah on Friday said the Modi Government would “soon control” the situation in Kashmir, which it has been tackling “seriously and subtly”.
Addressing a Press conference here marking completion of three years of the BJP rein, Shah said during the last three years, people have gained confidence as Prime Minister Narendra Modi transformed the nation’s thought process and established her pride internationally. He said the Modi dispensation is a “decisive Government” unlike the preceding one that suffered from “policy paralysis”.
Answering question on prevailing unrest in Kashmir valley, Shah said last two to three months are not enough to judge the actual situation there. He said the BJP is taking the Kashmir issue seriously and working to resolve it in “subtle” manner. “The situation would be under control soon,” he said.
On criticism of Army’s action by a section of people, he said no one should show disrespect to the Army that safeguards and preserves our freedom. On Army Major Nitin leetul Gogoi triggering a controversy by using a Kashmiri man as ‘human shield, Shah said his action ensured safety of Election Commission officials and security personnel.
He said people’s support for the BJP increasingly grew in last three years with expansion in party’s support base. Shah said the BJP won most of the elections since 2014.
Stating that it was not possible to provide jobs to all in a country of 125 crore people, the BJP president said that the Government had tackled the problem of unemployment by promoting self-employment.
Taking a swipe at Opposition parties over their charge of a “jobless” growth, Shah said that had they paid attention to such figures during the UPA Government, they would not have suffered defeat in successive elections.
At present, there was no accurate mechanism to estimate unemployment figures, he said.
“We have tried to give new perspective to employment as it is not possible to provide employment to everyone in a country of 125 crore people. We are promoting self-employment and the Government has made eight-crore people self-employed,” he said.
Speaking at length about the Government’s schemes, Shah gave the slogan of “sath hai, vishwas hai, ho raha vikas hai” (with us, with trust, working for development).
“There is an overall transformation in the country,” he said claiming whatever was not achieved in 70 years was achieved in three years of the Modi Government. The BJP leader said eradication of “parivadvad”, “jativad” and “appeasement politics” during the years was indicative of good changes brought about by the Modi dispensation. “Mahan Bharat banne ki neev banane ka kaam Modiji ne kiya,” he said referring to the tasks accomplished by the BJP Government since 2014.
He said Opposition not able to level a single charge of corruption against the Modi Government was a big achievement.
Describing the Modi dispensation as a sensitive Government, Shah said rendering constitutional status to the OBC Commission gave respect to socially-backward classes and delivery on one-rank-one-pension to retired Armymen with an expenditure of Rs 8,000 crore showed that the Government was a responsive one.
He also mentioned “surgical strikes” on terror hubs across the border as reflective of “political will and leadership” of the Government. Shah listed out demonetization, enacting of enemy property act and ‘Benami property Act”, passing of Goods and Services Tax, electoral reforms and end of “lal batti culture” as “achievements” of the Government. He said during the BJP rule Rs 15,000 crore ‘Benami property’ was seized.
Shah said India turned one of the fast growing economies with agriculture growth that was negative attained 4 per cent growth. He said the Government would deliver four crore homes by 2022.
On the question that BJP was pursing cases against Opposition, Shah said when property in question is of dubious Rs 1,000 crore, the Government would act. He said in NARADA scam, TMC people are seen taking money. “Would we not act ..IJ” he asked.
