Lauding the remarkable achievements of the Modi Government over the past nine years, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday emphasised the significant strides made in women’s development.
He highlighted the Government’s successful disbursement of 27 crore Mudra loans to women entrepreneurs who have made invaluable contributions to the Indian economy with their exceptional abilities.
The BJP is currently observing a month-long awareness campaign to promote the benefits of the Prime Minister’s flagship schemes implemented during his two terms. Party leaders are engaging with prominent individuals in society during this time.
In a series of tweets, Shah emphasised that the celebration of womanhood is not just a slogan for Prime Minister Modi. In the nine years of women-led development, women have broken barriers in all areas of life, from space exploration to startups, and from defense to domestic affairs, propelling the nation to new heights.
“Under the visionary leadership of PM @narendramodi ji, an era of #9YearsOfWomenLedDevelopment has been unleashed, showcasing India’s progress to the world. A remarkable milestone was achieved as 27 crore Mudra loans were disbursed to women entrepreneurs, who are now empowering the Indian economy with their immense potential,” he stated.
The Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) is a scheme launched by the Prime Minister on April 8, 2015, to provide loans up to `10 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm small and micro enterprises.
These loans, classified as MUDRA loans under PMMY, are offered by commercial banks, regional rural banks, small finance banks, microfinance institutions, and non-banking financial institutions. Borrowers can approach any of these lending institutions or apply online through the portal udyamimitra.in.
Under the PMMY, MUDRA has introduced three products: “Shishu”, “Kishore,” and “Tarun”, representing different stages of growth, development, and funding requirements of the beneficiary micro units and entrepreneurs. These products provide a reference point for their graduation and further growth.
During a Press conference at the BJP headquarters, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Purushotam Rupala, also highlighted the achievements of the Modi Government over the past nine years, emphasising the Government’s commitment to reaching every section of society.
Rupala praised the Government’s initiatives in the Fisheries Ministry, mentioning that the total expenditure on fisheries from Independence to 2014 was Rs 3,860 crore. However, the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana’ alone has a budget of Rs 20,500 crore, and an additional fund of Rs 8,000 crore has been allocated to bridge the infrastructure gap and boost the industry along India’s coastline.
The Central Government has also introduced mobile veterinary units and provided 60 per cent of recurring costs to support States. Rupala also commended the Government for its nationwide vaccination programme for bovines, which has successfully eradicated several diseases.
Rupala concluded by expressing pride in the government’s decision to directly and transparently allocate funds to panchayats.
