Country’s economic scenario on Tuesday faithfully followed the Monday blues syndrome as the benchmark BSE Sensex plunged by 538 points to register its worst single day loss in 16 months and close below 27,000-mark as foreign investors, already confounded ahead of a crucial US Fed meeting, were spooked by a rate hike in Russia amid sinking oil prices.
The rupee after touching a 11-month low of 62.94 on Monday slumped further to a 13-month low to 63.44 against the US dollar owing to heavy demand for the American currency from importers.
