Sadhvi Pragya receives hero’s welcome in Bhopal

Published on:

The return of former Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur to the city on Sunday after her acquittal in the Malegaon blast case turned into a grand show of strength, emotion, and devotion.

Supporters turned the premises of Raja Bhoj Airport and her 74 bungalow residence into a scene of celebration, marked by traditional drum beats, joyous dances, and repeated chants of religious slogans.

As Sadhvi Pragya emerged from the airport, the gathered crowd surged forward, showering her with marigold garlands and flower petals. The drum beats intensified and a group of women broke into folk-style dances in the forecourt, visibly overwhelmed by the moment.

Youth in zeal, waved saffron scarves and danced atop vehicles while shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Sadhvi Pragya Zindabad’.

The roads outside the airport were jammed-not just with vehicles but with emotion. Her convoy moved slowly through the cheering crowd as slogans echoed from both sides of the street. Mobile phones were held high to capture the moment. Even young children, seated on shoulders, waved flags bearing religious symbols.

At her 74 bungalow reswidence, dozens of supporters were seen forming a corridor, clapping and dancing as the vehicle arrived. The bonnet of the jeep was covered in flowers, and a small tableau resembling a religious procession leads the way.

At the entrance, Sadhvi Pragya was seen standing through the sunroof of the vehicle, greeting supporters with folded hands. Her attire-simple, saffron-stood in stark contrast to the storm of celebration around her. Security personnel struggled to control the crowd as people leaned in to offer garlands or touch her feet.

Outside her residence, loudspeakers played bhajans while laddoos were handed out in large baskets. Elderly women lit incense sticks and did ‘aarti’, treating her arrival as a spiritual moment rather than a political one. For her supporters, it was a moment of vindication and victory. For onlookers, it was a rare mix of politics, devotion, and spectacle.

Later, while talking to mediapersons at her residence, she narrated the torture she went through during interrogation. Regarding Digvijay Singh, against whom she had won Bhopal parliamentary election, she said that it is meaningless to speak out about him.

The visuals were loud, vibrant, and rooted in deep emotion-a public reaffirmation of faith by her supporters who see her not just as a political leader, but as a symbol of endurance and spiritual resistance.
