Russia backs India's right to avenge Uri

Backing India’s surgical strikes against the terror groups along the line of Control (loC), Russian Ambassador to India Alexander M Kadakin said on Monday that Russia was the only country to openly say that during the Uri attack, terrorists came from Pakistan, and that Islamabad has to stop this menace of terrorism being transported from its soil.

Speaking to a news channel, Kadakin tried to allay Indian concerns on the joint Pakistan-Russia military exercise that took place shortly after the Uri attack. Kadakin said India should not be concerned about such military exercises between Russia and Pakistan because it is in India’s interests that the Pakistan Army is taught “how not to use itself for terror attacks against India.”

Kadakin stressed that Russia has always been with India in fighting cross-border terrorism which is why it openly named and shamed Pakistan on the Uri attack. “Greatest human rights violations take place when terrorists attack military installations and attack civilians in India. We welcome the surgical strikes. Every country has the right to defend itself,” Kadakin said.

“India should not be concerned about the military exercises between Russia and Pakistan because the theme of the exercise is anti-terror fighting. That’s in India’s interests that we teach the Pakistan Army not to use itself for terror attacks against India. And the exercise was not held in any sensitive or problematic territories like Pakistan-occupied Indian State of Jammu,” said the Russian Ambassador.
