The national Capital looked deserted on Sunday as India’s first match in this world cup against Pakistan saw majority of residents confining themselves within homes to watch the thrilling contest. Right from the first ball of the match, all eyes remained glued to the TV screens. As the match progressed into second innings and saw tumbling of Pakistani wickets, Delhi erupted into jubilation. As the last wicket of Pakistan fell, scores of young bikers wearing patriotism on their sleeve hit the city streets waving tricolours with gusto.

As the clock struck 9 am on Sunday, cricket fans fixed their eyes on TV screens. “I was ready with pakoras and chai as the match started. I love to watch the match with my family since even my grandfather is filled with the same zeal to see India beat Pakistan,” said 26-year-old Anuj Ved, a resident of Rajouri Garden.
