Coming ahead of and during her questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case in Mumbai, Rhea Chakraborty’s call record details — with the late actor, Bollywood personalities, a senior Mumbai police official and her own family members — on Friday sparked a new debate in the media in connection with the probe into Rajput’s death.
She spoke 287 times with the late actor’s domestic help Samuel Miranda during a year time.
On a day when she, her brother Showik Chakraborty and ex-manager Shruti Modi were questioned by the ED officials in Mumbai, her call records apparently leaked to the media by the investigating agencies sparked all kinds of speculation in the electronic media.
Among other things, she had made 25 calls to Sushant between January 20 and January 24, 2020 when the actor was with his sister Rani in Chandigarh.
Rhea spoke to her mentor and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt 16 times in a year over the phone, while she conversed with Uday Singh Gauri for 22 times and Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur 23 times.
Over a period of one year, Rhea had spoken to her father Indrajeet Chakraborty at least 1,192 times, her brother 1,069 times but only 145 times with late Sushant and 4 times with his sister Rani. However, she spoke to 287 times with the late actor’s domestic help Samuel Miranda.
She spoke to several others, including Modi, 791 times, with Sushant’s friends like Siddharth Pithani 100 times and Deepesh Sawant 41 times.
She also talked on the phone with Dream Home Real Estate firm 23 times in the past year.
She made four calls and sent a message in June-July to Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe, who is investigating the case.
While it is too early to contextualise Rhea call data records and their importance in the ongoing investigations into the Rajput suicide case, the electronic media had a field day dissecting the call data records to add sensation to the ongoing media blitzkrieg over the investigations into the actor’s death.
