Railways cancels caterer's licence for lizard in food served in train

Published on:

After a passenger found a dead lizard in the veg-biryani served to him in the New Delhi-bound Poorav Express on Tuesday evening, the Railway Ministry on Wednesday cancelled the caterer’s contract.

The passenger, Allahabad High Court advocate Santosh Kumar Singh, underwent a health check-up in Patna, Buxar and then again at Mughalsarai in UP, where senior rail officers were also present. Singh said he planned to file a PIl in a court against the caterer. A few days ago, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) rapped the railways for poor onboard catering services.
