A Kenyan woman was allegedly beaten up near Alstonia Apartments in Greater Noida on Wednesday, after which she was taken to Kailash Hospital for treatment and then released.

Police said the Kenyan national was allegedly pulled out of an autorickshaw and beaten up by some youths. “There were no visible marks of injury, she has been discharged,” Dr Sanil Kapoor, Medical Superintendent of Kailash Hospital said.

Assuring punishment to the culprits who slapped the African woman in Greater Noida, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday showed concern adding that strict action would be taken against the guilty.

“It’s a matter of concern. No such attack is permitted in the country.

They are guests and law and order has to be maintained across all levels,” Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge), Mahesh Sharma said.

“let the law department take care of the situation. Whosoever is culprit and guilty should be punished and taken into account,” he said.

ADG, law and Order Daljeet Choudhury while expressing disappointment over the unfortunate incident that had happened in the wee hours on Wednesday, assured that police would soon nab the culprits adding the police immediately admitted the African national to the hospital for medical check-up.

“We have already traced the driver of OlA taxi. Now we are trying to identify the persons who did the mischief. We hope that we will be able to nab the culprits very soon,” ADG Daljeet told.

He further said, “The police immediately checked into and admitted the victim to the hospital for medical treatment. Now she is absolutely fine.”

The incident follows the attack on four African students in Greater Noida on Monday. During a candlelight protest march for a 17-year-old who died on Saturday, four Nigerian students were attacked, as locals alleged that the boy died after the Nigerians forced him to inhale drugs. The boy’s family has accused the Nigerian students of murder and is demanding their arrest.

Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had on Tuesday morning spoken to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the incident and was assured a fair and impartial investigation into the matter. Swaraj, in a series of tweets, had said that the Government of India was “seized of the matter”, and were “taking immediate action”.
