PM to attend G7 Summit in Canada from June 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada, from June 15-17, and expressed enthusiasm about meeting newly elected Canadian PM Mark Carney. Modi thanked Carney for the invitation during a congratulatory phone call and emphasised strengthening India-Canada ties through mutual respect and shared interests. Relations between the two countries had soured under former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, particularly over issues involving Khalistani separatists and the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. With Carney replacing Trudeau after a snap election in March, hopes are rising for improved diplomatic relations. India has been regularly invited to the G7, the group of seven richest nations, since 2019.

Supreme Court permits NBE to conduct NEET-PG on August 3

The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the National Board of Examination (NBE) to conduct the NEET-PG 2025 exam on August 3 in a single shift, as per its May 30 directive. A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih initially questioned the delay but found the NBE’s plea “bonafide.” The NBE cited logistical challenges, including arranging 1,000+ secure, tech-compliant centres for over 2.7 lakh candidates. The court warned no further extensions would be granted. The exam was originally set for June 15 but was deferred due to concerns over transparency and shift-based scheduling, prompting the Supreme Court to mandate a single-shift exam format.
