Delhi CM unveils plan to fight Capital pollution

Ahead of the World Environment Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled a sweeping anti-pollution plan titled Shuddh Hawa Sabka Adhikar, focusing on green mobility, dust control, and innovation. Key steps include 2,300 e-autos, mist sprayers at 13 hotspots, cloud seeding trials, 18,000 EV charging points, and real-time pollution tracking. All high-rises must install anti-smog guns; roads will be repaired and greened. The city targets 70 lakh trees under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam. Legacy waste at landfill sites will be eliminated by 2028, and new waste-to-energy plants added. Odd-Even won’t return; only BS-VI, CNG, or EVs will enter Delhi from Nov 1. A new industrial policy and E-waste Eco Park are also planned.

PM to launch rail services between Katra, Srinagar

On June 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate rail services connecting Katra to Srinagar via the Chenab Bridge—the world’s highest railway bridge—marking a major milestone in Indian infrastructure. The launch, aligned with the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, will ease pilgrim travel and enhance connectivity. PM Modi will flag off Vande Bharat trains between Katra and Baramulla, with services to Jammu to follow. The `43,000 crore USBRL project includes 943 bridges and 119 km of tunnels, enhancing trade, tourism, and security. Specially designed trains for Kashmir’s harsh winters will cut Katra-Srinagar travel time to 2.5 hours. High security has been deployed ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
