Amul increases milk prices by Rs 2 per litre

Prices of Amul milk across all variants will increase by Rs 2 per litre starting May 1, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) announced on Wednesday. This hike represents a 3 per cent-4 per cent rise in the maximum retail price (MRP), which the federation noted is lower than the current average food inflation. GCMMF markets dairy products under the popular ‘Amul’ brand. With this revision, the 500ml pouch of Amul Gold will now cost Rs 34, while the 500ml Amul Shakti variant will be priced at Rs 31 in Gujarat. The federation attributed the price hike to a rise in overall input and operational costs incurred by dairy farmers.

SC overhauls KYC for differently abled

The Supreme Court on Wednesday mandated an inclusive overhaul of the digital Know Your Customer (KYC) process, ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities, including acid attack survivors and the visually impaired. A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan issued 20 directives to the Centre, its departments, and the RBI, stressing that digital access is a constitutional right under Article 21. The court emphasized that systemic digital exclusion violates equality and dignity, calling for accessible design, regional content, and alternative KYC verification methods. It also ordered regular accessibility audits, mandatory involvement of persons with disabilities in app testing, and appointment of nodal officers to ensure compliance across public and private digital platforms.
