Veteran JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav on Monday broke his silence over Nitish Kumar’s decision to dump the Bihar mahagathbandhan and join hands with the BJP, saying that people’s mandate was not for it and calling the decision “unfortunate”.
“The situation is very unpleasant to us. I don’t agree with the decision in Bihar. It’s unfortunate. The mandate by the people was not for this. Breaking an agreement with the people is a very big thing, they voted for the grand alliance,” Yadav told the reporters outside Parliament.
Though he has given plenty of indications that he is displeased by taking to Twitter to lambast his party’s new ally, the BJP, for not taking action against back money and against those implicated in the Panama Papers, Sharad Yadav has been maintaining a stoic silence so far, not publicly commenting about Nitishas decision.
Since Nitish walked out of mahagathbandhan, the Rajya Sabha member has met a number of Opposition leaders, including top leaders from the Congress and the left, fuelling speculation that he may sever his association with JD(U).
On his meeting with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi a day after Nitish broke ties with Congress, Sharad told The Pioneer it was just a friendly visit to discuss the current political situation and device strategy to corner the Centre on couple of issues during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
On his talks with RJD chief lalu Prasad, Sharad Yadav said some of the conversations between two people are not meant for public. “Yes we are political leaders and always remain in touch whatever the political lineage,” he said. lalu has already referred Sharad as “our leader” and urged him to join in the fight against the BJP.
