Cong behind false FIR against my brother and security men, alleges Ramdev

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his associates have accused the Congress of misusing the Uttarakhand Police by slapping a kidnapping case against Ramdev’s brother, Ram Bharat, and security guards of the Patanjali.

An FIR was lodged against Ram Bharat and security guards for allegedly kidnapping their former employee, Nitin Tyagi, from Haridwar on October 18. However, Patanjali Yogpeeth has claimed that Nitin Tyagi was caught red-handed while stealing goods, and the employees were going to hand him over to the police, when they were intercepted by policemen.

Following the complaint by Nitin Tyagi’s grandfather, police claimed to have recovered Nitin at the entrance of Patanjali Yogpeeth Ashram, Haridwar on Monday, according to IG law and Order RS Meena. A massive manhunt has been launched to arrest Ramdev’s brother.

Defending Patanjali Yogapeeth and its administration, Ramdev said that since he has been exposing the Congress across the country, the ruling party of Uttarakhand filed a case of kidnapping against his brother.

“My brother is not an absconder. The police has so far not called him for interrogation,” Ramdev said, reacting to the development in Indore on Tuesday.

Addressing a “Meet-the-Press” in Indore, he said that the case had been filed by the Uttarakhand Government to defame him.

Ramdev’s chief spokesman SK Tijarawala alleged that Tyagi, who worked as a driver with Patanjali Yogpeeth, had stolen machine parts worth `25 lakh and other valuables about two years back. “He entered Patanjali Yogpeeth premises on Monday. The Patanjali Yogpeeth employees overpowered him and

reported the matter to the police. When no cops came to arrest him, we were going to hand him over to the police. But we were intercepted by policemen on the way. Tyagi was taken into custody and instead of acting against him, a case of abduction was lodged against us,” Tijarawala told The Pioneer over phone.

However, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna told The Pioneer : “Allegation against the State Government is totally wrong. law will take its own course.”

As the war of words between Congress and Ramdev intensified, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said Baba Ramdev was not such a big personality that he will be targeted. Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal commented that Ramdev has developed phobia and he should consult some psychiatrist.

Meanwhile, investigations so far in the case has revealed that Nitin was working in Patanjali Yogpeeth as a watchman till two years ago. Suddenly a truck loaded with goods went missing with its driver and helper. Since Patanjali authorities did not lodge a formal complaint about the missing truck, the police are looking into the allegation against the truck driver, cleaner and watchmen Nitin.

Police lodged complaint under Section 365, 342. IG Meena said that after receiving counter complaint by Patanjali, the police included it in the FIR.
