The Centre on Friday formed a committee of senior officers and academicians to decide on the criteria for the evaluation of CBSE Class 12 Board exam results after the Government cancelled the examinations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that the board has been directed to calculate results in “well-defined objective criteria”. Modi also added that the Class 12 results will be announced in “a time-bound manner”.
The committee has been mandated to submit the report within 10 days. The committee comprises 13 members, including officials of various Central and State education departments, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, University Grants Commission, NCERT and two representatives of CBSE schools. Thus, students can expect to know the detailed criterion for the calculation of marks by June 14.
“It was decided that CBSE will take steps to compile the results of Class 12 students as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner,” the CBSE notification read.
The report of the committee will be deliberated at the highest level before the criteria is approved and then the same model is likely to be adopted by ICSE and all State Education Boards who have cancelled the examinations and fix a criteria to declare the results of Class 12 to enable the students to move ahead with their score.
The Supreme Court directed the CBSE and CICSE to place on record objective criteria for assessment of marks in two weeks.
