Within hours of the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati ruling out any alliance with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), the Hyderabad MP and party chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced that his party would contest 100 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
