Reduced visibility due to thick fog on Yamuna Expressway led to a pile-up of 77 vehicles that killed one and left over 24 people injured on Monday morning. Three of the people injured in the accident on the Mathura stretch of the Expressway are critical. According to the police, the mishap happened after a speeding Swift car hit aTata Magic van while trying to overtake it.
The victims were taken to a hospital in Greater Noida where one was declared brought dead while the condition of three of the injured was stated to be critical.
Police said the accident took place on the Agra-Greater Noida stretch around 9 am, 88-kilometres before zero point, when the Swift hit the Tata Magic. In a few seconds scores of vehicles coming from behind rammed into the two cars as the drivers could not see due to the dense fog.
