A 34-year-old National Security Guard (NSG) commando reportedly committed suicide after shooting at his wife and sister-in-law with his service weapon on the Manesar NSG campus, some 24 km away from the Gurugram city, on Tuesday, police said.

According to police, a native of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Jitender Singh was posted as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the NSG. He was on deputation from the Border Security Force (BSF).

An investigation officer of the case said the NSG commando shot at wife Guddan (30) and sister-in-law Khushbu (17) with an MP 5 automatic gun before taking his own life. While the motive has not yet been ascertained, the two women have been admitted to Rockland Hospital in Manesar with serious injuries.

Khusbhu received a bullet wound in the shoulder and Guddan was hit in her abdomen, while her children, an eight-year-old daughter and two-year-old son, are safe, police said.

The preliminary investigation suggests that in a fit of rage the commando used his service weapon to allegedly shoot his wife and his sister-in-law, said police. The incident came to light when the other residents hearing the gunshots at 9 am and rushed to his house. They reported the matter to the police.

“The investigation is on into the matter we are trying to ascertain the actual reason behind the incident the probe is underway in other angles as well. His family in Kanpur has been informed about the incident,” Manesar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dharamvir Singh said.
