The mindless approach of the Noida Authority in facilitating seamless movement of the bigwigs residing in Sector 15-A of Noida has led to scores of commuters suffering because of persistent traffic snarls in the area.
Commuters using the three kilometre long stretch from Noida Gate to Mahamaya Flyover have to wade through traffic snarls every day as the Authority has illegally constructed additional speed-breakers in front of Noida Sector 15-A. More than two lakh vehicles use this road each day.
To facilitate uninterrupted entry and exit of vehicles into Sector 15-A, these breakers were constructed and even traffic signals were installed without approval of the traffic police.
Owing to these speed breakers, movement of vehicles has become very slow resulting in unprecedented jams, especially during peak hours. Though the law enforcement agency has written to Noida Authority against this move, no step has been taken to remove these structures so far.
Meanwhile, the office-bearers of the RWA have hailed the authority’s decision to set up breakers resulting in relief to residents of the sector while approaching the road.
The three kilometre stretch from Noida Gate to Mahamaya flyover, connects the National Capital to Greater Noida and the traffic coming from the DND Flyway also merges on this route as this is a key route to Greater Noida and New Delhi.
Noida Traffic Police said that the entire problem has been created due to the nexus between the Noida Authority and the RWA of Sector 15-A. The RWA only put its own concerns before the competent authority and did not bother about the traffic jams these developments are causing daily.
“As the Noida Authority allowed increasing the number of speed-breakers, commuters are facing a tough time. The residents are also operating traffic signals without observing movement of vehicles that also adds to traffic woes,” said MP Singh, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Gautambudh Nagar.
According to a senior official of Noida Authority, they were assessing the situation but they did not want to revoke their decision in a hurry.
“As it was a long-pending demand of the residents of that sector we cannot ignore it. To resolve this problem, we plan to construct u-turns from both sides of the road which are likely to become operational before the end of the year. They have also been planning to construct a foot over bridge near the gate of the sector,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that the Noida Authority had constructed single speed breakers and had fixed blinkers in front of the gates but these structures were removed before the ADB summit. The new structures were erected after the summit.
