Nitish suspends two MPs for chanting NaMo

Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday suspended two of its MPs — Purnmasi Ram and Jai Narayan Nishad — for six years following growing anti-party activities as many of its leaders were found hobnobbing with BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Nishad, an MP from Muzaffarpur, earned the wrath of the party for meeting Narendra Modi and backing him for the top job. Purnmasi Ram, who comes from Champaran, has been highly criticial of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and gone to extent of demanding a probe into his role in the foddder scam. Both leaders have a history of switching political loyalty. Nishad was in lalu Prasad’s RJD and BJP earlier before joining JD(U) while Ram was once a Minister in lalu’s Cabinet in Bihar.

last week, the JD (U) suspended its MlA Chhedi Paswan for calling on Modi in Ahmedabad. Paswan, who was a Minister in Kumar’s previous Government from 2005-10, is presently a party MlA from Mohania in Kaimur district. He too has been suspended for six years.
