Seven people, convicted for raping and killing a 28-year-old mentally-challenged Nepalese woman and dumping her body in a field along the Hisar highway near Bahu Akbarpur Village of Rohtak in February this year, were on Monday sentenced to death by a district court. The judge made an observation in his judgment, “how many times Nirbhaya would die” and said such crimes should be dealt severely.
The trial was completed within ten months after the incident hogged the headlines. Given the brutality of the crime, the prosecution had appealed to the court that capital punishment be awarded to the convicts.
