Stating that BJP-led “Tiranga Yatra” has brought the country together, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that his Government’s sole aim is “Rashtra nirman” but certain elements are trying their best “to distract us from this path of nation building”. He also asserted that nationalism is the identity of the BJP.

Giving the concluding address at the day-long workshop of BJP’s State core group members here, he said all members of the party should keep the fervour of nationalism alive as it brought the party to power at the Centre.

“Tiranga Yatra ne desh ko ek sutra main pirone ka kaam kiya hain,” he said.

The Prime Minister said besides emerging as a political power, the BJP should also become a social force to bring about major changes in the country.

Modi sought to institutionalise the functionalities of the party from the Central to the State-level and asked the BJP leaders to keep on communicating with the masses about the policy and programmes of the Central Government, which has delivered several pro-poor schemes.

The Prime Minister said the party should develop the habit of winning all elections, including the coming ones. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, and Uttarakhand are scheduled to go to polls early next year. The Prime Minister’s home State Gujarat too is slated for polls later next year.

The party workshop was inaugurated by BJP national president Amit Shah in the NDMC auditorium. The meet took stock of organisational works and reviewed the implementation of the Central Government’s public welfare initiatives.

Shah, organisational general secretary Ram lal and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were on the dais when the Prime Minister joined them.

Modi stressed that party should speak in one voice and work with the best of coordination at all levels of the organisation across the country.

All key Union Ministers, including Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, state-prabharies and central office bearers participated in the discussion.

After this workshop, Shah will meet the Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States on August 27 and assess implementation of Central schemes in their respective States.

In his address, the party president said the BJP is not only a political party but a thought too and therefore it was natural that “our working style should be different from others”. He said with time, BJP’s functioning should also change. For this, he said, core groups would be formed in all the States for better coordination.
