NGO owner Brajesh Thakur and his team used to beat Balika Grih minors black & blue for resistance
Another sensational aspect from the infamous Balika Grih of Muzaffarpur has come to light. Several hapless girls aged between 6 and 18 years were not only regularly raped and tortured by the owner of NGO Sewa Sankalp evam Vikas Samiti, Brajesh Thakur, and others, but were also supplied to hotels for flesh trade. Their refusal invited more physical torture and they were hit on their private parts.
The girls, who have been shifted to Nazareth charity hospital at Mokama in Patna district, made this revelation before the magistrate. One of them said she was supplied to customers in hotel many times. Thakur would take them to a particular hotel where they were handed over to customers who took them to rooms. Each time four to five girls were taken to hotel and brought back the next day.
This is the first time that rape survivors have made the disclosure of their forced entry into flesh trade outside the shelter home.
The CBI, which has taken over the enquiry into this shameful case, is expected to look into this revelation and interrogate Thakur and other accused lodged in Khudi Ram Bose Central Jail, Muzaffarpur.
The happenings inside the shelter home at Sahu Road in Muzaffarpur are heartrending. Every evening, it is reported, Thakur and his guests, including politicians and officials, would indulge in sexually abusing and physically torturing the minor and teenage girls.
Most of the time, it was being done collectively. One girl has reportedly revealed that if any of them l would attempt to save herself she would be pinned down by two men and then she would be raped brutally. The disobedient girls were thrashed after being disrobed with Thakur leading the assault team.
The shameful case has put the Nitish Kumar Government in a highly embarrassing position. More so, because the names of Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma’s husband Chandrashekhar Verma and that of Urban Development Minister Suresh Kumar Sharma have cropped up in this episode as visitors of the shelter home. While Verma tried to clarify her and hubby’s position, Sharma threatened to file defamation suit against leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav who had blamed him.
Child protection activist and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi said the Government should take moral responsibility of such heinous crime against children. He said merely saying that matter would be probed would not end Government’s responsibility.
He said society too has to take the responsibility and added that religious leaders should come out against this because in many cases they are also accused.
Meanwhile, the left parties have called for Bihar bandh on August 2 which has been supported by the RJD. The AIPWA, the AISA, the Kisan Mahasabha, and others will also take part in this bandh.
