The Samajwadi Party on Monday released the third list of 37 candidates thus taking the number of people in the fray to 305 against the 298 seats it saved for itself in the tie-up with the Congress.

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav was on Monday formally chosen to contest from the lucknow Cantonment seat against BJP’s Rita Bahuguna, a former MlA from the constituency, who recently joined the party after quitting the Congress. Aparna’s name for the seat was doing the rounds for the last couple of months.

Quashing talks of trouble with the Congress over extra seats, State SP chief Naresh Uttam who announced the new list of candidates in lucknow on Monday, said, “There is no confusion over the alliance. If at all there is some misunderstanding, it will be cleared as the Samajwadi Party will withdraw some of its candidates announced for the first two phases of the Assembly polls. Those seats would go to the Congress as per the alliance announced on Sunday.”

In the latest SP list, the party has denied tickets to sitting MlA and Minister Vijay Mishra from Ghazipur and former Minister Shadab Fatima. Both were followers

of former State SP chief

Shivpal Yadav.

In the new list, the SP has announced candidates for four seats of lucknow and three of Kannauj. Sitting MlA and Minister of State Ravidas Mehrotra and Abhishek Mishra will contest from lucknow (Central) and lucknow (North) respectively.

Senior SP leader and Minister Balram Yadav’s son Sangram Singh Yadav has been fielded from Ataraulia Assembly seat in Azamgarh.
