Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday concluded the series of his election rallies for the February 7 polls by bringing back focus on the development mantra. In an attempt to give a final push to the BJP campaign, Modi highlighted the central welfare schemes, at the same time, trashing opinion polls which have given an edge to the AAP. Convincing the audience at South Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar, he asserted Centre’s focus on “transforming the lives of the poor and the national Capital.”
Cautioning people against an instable Government, Modi urged people to vote for the BJP and give it full majority so as to bring stability in the Capital. He said that voting for the party meant voting for development and listed out the initiatives taken by the Centre in the past eight months. “Politics should be all about development without which no State can progress. My politics has only one style, only one mantra and only one focus and that is development. And it means that there should be change in the lives of the poor people,” he said.
He urged the electorate to vote in large numbers to ensure that polling percentage in Delhi surpasses the high turnouts recorded in recent Assembly elections in Haryana, Jharkhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. Modi referred to the ‘Jan Dhan’ scheme and direct benefit transfer for gas cylinder subsidy as pro-poor measures taken by his Government. In an apparent attack on the Congress, he said his was neither a ghotala sarkar (government of scam) nor was a government run with the help of ghotalebaaz (scamsters). “What kind of people are they (AAP)IJ In public life there should not be any place for such lies,” the Prime Minister, who has been holding rallies for three consecutive days in Delhi, targeted AAP without naming it.
