PM slams SP for ‘mafiawaad’ in eastern UP; hits out at Cong for poor Defence infra
Inaugurating the 341-km Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur district after landing on the highway airstrip in an IAF C-130 Hercules transport plane, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the previous Samajwadi Party Government, accusing it of discriminating among the people in extending the benefits of the development schemes to the citizens.
“Previous Governments in Uttar Pradesh reduced the State’s vital eastern part to “mafiawaad” and poverty, but the BJP Government is now writing a new chapter of development,” said the PM.
Modi also launched a veiled attack on the Congress saying “the roar of the fighter planes also gives a message to the previous Government who ignored the Defence infrastructure for decades’’.
“The nation’s security is as important as its prosperity. In a short while from now, we will see how the Purvanchal Expressway has now become one more power for the Indian Air Force in cases of emergency. Our fighter plane will land on the expressway shortly,” the PM said.
