Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described as “fruitful” a lengthy meeting of council of ministers that he presided over, discussing key organisational issues, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, next year.
“A fruitful meeting with the Council of Ministers, where we exchanged views on diverse policy related issues,” said the Prime Minister after the conclusion of the meeting at the convention centre of Pragati Maidan.
Many of the ministers presented their ministries’ report on various Central schemes and their implementation to the Prime Minister, according to sources.
Modi took the feedback from his colleagues and called for preparing for “challenges” ahead.
The important meeting has come amid a heightened buzz about a likely Cabinet reshuffle following a series of meetings of the ruling BJP’s top brass like Amit Shah and JP Nadda with Modi last month.
What has added to the reshuffle buzz is that the period before Parliament’s Monsoon Session, which begins from July 20, could be the last window for such an exercise.
Key Changes in the cabinet and party are expected following Modi’s extensive brainstorming on Monday night.
Some of the Union Ministers may be drafted into the party in the run-up to the general elections, sources said adding State-level reshuffle if office bearers are also on card ahead of several state assembly elections.
