The Delhi Police on Thursday nabbed four men, including two juveniles, in connection with the acid attack on a woman doctor in Rajouri Garden area on Tuesday morning.
The main conspirator behind the cowardly act has been identified as Dr Ashok Yadav, a lovelorn friend and batchmate of the victim.
Investigations have revealed that Yadav was obsessed with the victim and wanted to marry her. He felt slighted after the girl’s marriage was fixed elsewhere and hatched a conspiracy to attack the victim with acid so that she would be scarred for life and her marriage would be called off.
“Accused Yadav involved his close friend Vaibhav, who earlier used to work with him,” said Joint Commissioner of Police, South-Western Range Tajender luthra.
Vaibhav, working in a call centre in Naraina, told Yadav that he knew some men who could execute his plan. Police said Vaibhav had roped in two juveniles and brokered a Rs 25,000 deal to carry out the plan. Vaibhav had given the perpetrators Rs 22,000 in advance.
To ensure a fail-safe plan, Dr Yadav had also conducted a dry run. “Yadav asked the juveniles to fill up a syringe with water instead of acid and ‘attack’ him,” the Jt CP added.
