TMC has turned Bengal into land of scams, we’ll uproot it, says BJP chief

BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday blew the election bugle in Bengal asking the people to uproot the Trinamool Congress for turning the State into a false hope, hotbed of scams and bomb factories.

launching a frontal attack on Mamata Banerjee for putting political obligations ahead of national interests by meddling in Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) affair, Shah said the Chief Minister will never be able to derail the creation of NRC aimed at throwing out the infiltrators from the north-eastern State.

“Mamata has been protesting against NRC. But I want to ask the reasons behind such protests in Delhi and elsewhere. What is she afraid ofij NRC is a process to identify Bangladeshi infiltrators living illegally in Assam. If we come to power in Bengal we will bring it to this State also so that illegal immigrants the Congress, the CPI(M) and now the TMC have harboured for years are thrown out.”

Shah was addressing a meeting of BJP Yuva Morcha, the party’s youth wing, in Kolkata.

Reminding that Mamata herself had once protested against the then CPI(M) Government for making infiltrators their vote bank in Bengal, the BJP president asked, “Why has she changed her stance todayij She had in 2005 raised the issue herself and thrown papers at the then lok Sabha Speaker. The reason why she has changed her stance is because being in power today, the Bangladeshis are her vote bank.”

NRC was the brainchild of the Congress and not the BJP but it is the Congress, TMC and the left who are making maximum hullaballoo about it, said Shah, adding Hindu, Christian and Buddhist refugees would never be deported from India and the Centre is going to bring an amended Citizenship Bill to this effect.

“Will the TMC and the Congress support on this issue is my question,” he asked.

On the deteriorating law and order situation of Bengal, he said the Mamata Government was one big example of “belied hopes.”

The people had changed the left Front Government and “brought Mamata to power with great hopes. But it reduced Bengal into land of scams --- Sharada, Narada and Rose Valley are a few to name, corruption, bomb and gunshots. Once where Rabindra Sangeet and religious songs on Ramakrishna and Sri Chaitanya rented the air today only guns and bombs boom,” he said.

Shah said, “We will take at least 22 seats from this State in coming lok Sabha elections which will prepare the ground for our coming to power in 2021. The BJP will never rest till it does not come to power uprooting the TMC Government.”
