Fetish for lingerie cost a servant his job and landed him in jail in the posh Greater Kailash-I area on Tuesday.
The man, who was employed as a driver by a family, was arrested by Delhi Police and also booked for outraging the modesty of a woman and using abusive language.
The mistress of the house, a 35-year-old woman, who runs a business along with her husband, reported that the driver had been stealing her undergarments and that of her 11-year-old daughter.
She had caught him si months ago with three bags full of lingerie. At that time the delinquent servant had been upbraided and the woman had destroyed 300 pieces of lingerie that she had recovered from him. However, as he had been employed with her household for the last 14 years, she
gave him another chance and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not mend his ways.
However, the driver who apparently suffered from a sick obsession for female undergarments started committing the theft again after a lull of six months.
The woman noticed that her lingerie had started disappearing again. This time round, to her horror and disgust, her daughter too complained that her undergarments were missing. After this, the woman asked her other servants to keep tabs on the driver.
The woman told police that she was tipped off by one of the servants and conducted a search in the servants quarters where the driver used to live and the usual suspect was caught red-handed again with 35 undergarments hidden in a sack.
However, to her shock and chagrin, when she reprimanded him, the driver became violent and tried to outrage her modesty. He even abused her when she objected to his boorish behavior.
The distressed woman called up the Police Control Room and reported her servant’s weird habits and assault to the police. A police team reached the house and apprehended the driver, identified as Daniel Martin (36).
Police said a case under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Greater Kailash Police Station and the driver has been arrested.
