BJP president Rajnath Singh on Sunday lamented JD(U)’s decision to snap ties with the BJP saying the move would weaken NDA’s fight to dethrone the UPA.
He accused Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for the crisis and said the move would neither benefit the BJP nor his own party. “It was not just a political tie but an emotional bond between the BJP and the JD(U).
As both parties were in alliance for over 17 years, the leaders of JD(U) had no issue with sharing dais with the NDA but after anointment of Narendra Modi as head of BJP's National Campaign Committee, they started chanting 'secularism' in opportunistic style," Singh said. He was addressing a rally at Talkatora stadium in the Capital organised by Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
The BJP president recounted, "It was the BJP which helped Nitish Kumar in becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar in the year 2000 when BJP had 67 MlAs while JD (U) had only 34."
