A Special CBI court on Tuesday framed charges against Indrani Mukherjea, her current husband and erstwhile media baron Peter Mukherjea and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna in the Sheena Bora murder case.
Minutes after charges were framed against her and two accused in the case, Indrani sought to add a new element into the case, by informing Additional Sessions Judge HS Mahajan that she wanted to divorce her husband Peter.
However, unaffected by her submission, Judge Mahajan told Indrani in a matter-of-fact manner, “No need to take (any) permission from the trial court.”
Peter was not present when Indrani made an oral submission before the trial court about her divorce plan.
Earlier, the judge explained the charges to the three accused as they were framed against them. All the three accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and said they would face trial. The judge scheduled the start of trial for February 1.
