With app-based cab services such as Ola and Uber gaining prominence in Delhi, a group of taxi drivers has set up a start-up cab service, named “Sewa Cab”, and has promised to do away with the much-criticised “surge pricing”.
The cab service, which will charge as little as Rs5 per kilometre, will provide booking both online and offline. Although Sewa Cab will be formally launched in mid-July, it began the service on May 1.
Sewa Cab co-founder Rakesh Agrawal told Bhasha, “Drivers were fed up with Ola and Uber. First they trapped them with incentives, but stopped it once their cab services became market leaders. These two companies take about 27 per cent commission from drivers.”
About 2,000 drivers have joined us; and by July 10, the number will grow to 3,000, added Agrawal.
